Photos and alt text
How many, how big, what formats, and why the description box matters.
The limits Copy a link to this section
- Four pictures per post
- 12 MB each
- JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF and AVIF
Large pictures are resized on upload rather than refused, so a photo straight off a phone is fine. Uploading starts the moment you choose a file, so the wait happens while you are still writing rather than after you press Publish.
A photo can be the whole post — you do not have to write anything alongside it.

Each picture has a description box. What you write there is read aloud to people using a screen reader, and shown if the picture fails to load.
Describe what matters about the picture rather than cataloguing it. "My daughter asleep on the dog" tells somebody more than "a photograph of a child and an animal indoors" does.
Marking a picture as AI-generated Copy a link to this section
Each picture also has an AI-generated switch. Turning it on puts a small label on the picture that every reader sees.
Nothing detects this and nothing enforces it. It exists because the alternative — no way at all to say so — makes the honest answer impossible to give.
Opening a picture Copy a link to this section
Pressing a picture in a post opens it full-size, and you can move between the pictures in the post from there.
