Messages
Who can write to you, and why the rule is stricter than most places.
Messages in the sidebar holds every conversation you are part of.
Who can message whom Copy a link to this section
You can message people who follow you back. Both of you have to follow the other.
It is a stricter rule than most places use, and it is deliberate: nobody here has to triage a folder of messages from strangers. There is no request folder, because a request folder is just an inbox from strangers with a longer name.
Two things are outside the rule:
- You can always write to Easybie support, whether or not we follow each other.
- Blocking removes any follow in both directions, so a blocked person cannot reach you by this route or any other.

New message at the top of your inbox, or Message on somebody's profile. The search there only shows people you can actually write to, so you never pick a name and then find out it was not allowed.

The Messages item in the sidebar carries a count of conversations with something new in them, not of individual messages — twelve messages in one thread is one thing to look at, not twelve. A short note appears when something arrives while you are on another page, naming who sent it.
The options on a conversation Copy a link to this section
Open a thread and its ⋯ menu offers:
- Mute this conversation — it stops adding to your unread count and stops raising notices. Nobody is told. Undo it with Turn notifications back on.
- Leave this conversation — you are removed from it and stop receiving it. Leaving a one-to-one thread is not the same as blocking: if either of you writes again it reopens. In a group thread this says Leave this group instead, and there is no reopening.

Messages are stored on the server and are not end-to-end encrypted. Easybie will not pretend otherwise. Treat a message the way you would treat an email: private from other people using the site, not secret from the people running it.
How long a message can be Copy a link to this section
5,000 characters, which is long enough that typing will not reach it. If you paste something longer, the box tells you how far over you are rather than cutting it off.
