The Gallery

Every picture posted publicly, on one wall.

Gallery is one wall of the pictures people have posted, newest first, without the words around them.

It is in the sidebar, and on a phone it is in your account menu.

What is on it Copy a link to this section

Pictures from posts, at the privacy the post itself was given. A picture attached to a public post is here; a picture attached to a post for your followers only is not, and neither is one from a private group or a message.

Nothing separate decides this. The Gallery asks the same question every other list asks — who is this post for — and shows what a public reader may see.

What it is for Copy a link to this section

Two different things, depending on who you are.

Reading it: a way to find people whose work you would never have found in a timeline, because a good photograph scrolls past in a feed at the same speed as everything else.

Posting to it: nothing. There is no separate act of posting to the Gallery. You post a picture, and if the post is public the picture is here.

Signed out Copy a link to this section

The Gallery opens without an account, like Watch, Read and Explore. What a signed-out visitor sees is the public part of it, which is the same thing they would see on each of those posts.

Removing a picture from it Copy a link to this section

Change the audience on the post it belongs to, or delete the post. Since the Gallery is a view of your posts rather than a copy of them, either takes effect everywhere at once.
