Closing your account

What it deletes, what it cannot undo, and the one thing to do first.

You can close your account yourself, at any time, without writing to anybody and without being asked four times whether you are sure.

It is at Settings → Account → Delete this account, on a page of its own.

Take your things first Copy a link to this section

Closing deletes your posts, your pictures and the account. There is no grace period and nothing to restore afterwards.

So export first. Settings → Account → Your data gives you a copy of everything Easybie holds about you, and it takes a moment. Once the account is closed that copy is the only one that exists anywhere.

What it asks for Copy a link to this section

Three things, and each one is checking something different:

  • Your password, which proves it is you and not somebody who found your screen unlocked.
  • Your username, typed out, which proves you read what the page says rather than pressing the last button on it.
  • A look at the groups that would close with you, named on the page, because a group with no owner is a room full of people with nobody able to moderate it.

What happens to what you wrote Copy a link to this section

Your posts, replies, pictures and articles go. Where somebody else's post quotes or replies to one of yours, their writing is theirs and stays — what was yours is removed from it.

Your handle is not immediately handed to the next person who wants it.

What is kept, and why Copy a link to this section

A small amount, and the privacy notice says exactly what: enough to keep a record that a moderation decision was made, and enough that a legal obligation with a fixed period can be met. None of it is your writing.

If you only want a break Copy a link to this section

You do not have to close anything. A private account, a paused notification setting, or simply not opening the app are all reversible, and this is not.
