Blocking, muting and muted words

Three different tools for three different problems, and who gets told about each.

All three live in Settings → Blocked and muted, and blocking and muting can also be done from the ⋯ menu on any profile or post.

Mute Copy a link to this section

Their posts stop appearing for you. Nothing else changes, and they are never told.

Use it when you do not want to read somebody but have no wish to make anything of it.

Block Copy a link to this section

Neither of you sees the other, and neither can follow the other. Blocking removes any follow that already existed, in both directions.

A blocked person also cannot reach you through a notification. Blocking that stopped somebody appearing in a feed while leaving them a direct line to your attention would miss the part that actually matters.

Unblocking lets them see you and follow again. It does not restore the follows that blocking removed.

Muted words Copy a link to this section

A list of words and phrases. Posts containing any of them do not appear in your feeds. Case does not matter.

This is the one that scales. Blocking works on people; muted words work on a subject, an event or a spoiler, and they cost nobody anything.

Reporting is separate Copy a link to this section

Blocking and muting change what you see. Neither of them tells anybody at Easybie that something is wrong. If something should not be here, report it as well.
